Robert & Kathy on LifeSongs Radio
Your Past Doesn’t Disqualify You
Get to know Robert and Kathy as they sit down with Paul Radke on LifeSongs Radio to share their story, talk about grace, and reflect on how God works through imperfect lives.
You don’t have to have everything figured out to walk through our doors. We believe God meets us with grace and gives us a new beginning.
Faith takes shape in everyday relationships: sharing a meal, praying together, and showing up when someone needs a friend.
We open the Bible, pray with expectation, and trust the Holy Spirit to help us live what we believe.
Robert and Kathy had spent years serving people across greater New Orleans. Along the way, they saw a longing for genuine community in the people they served—and shared that longing themselves. People to follow Jesus with.
People who would know one another beyond a Sunday morning.
They wanted a church where questions could be spoken out loud, where a difficult season didn’t have to be faced alone, and where there was room to bring your whole life—not just the parts that looked put together.
In 2016, they started River Church on the Westbank with that hope.
Today, that hope takes shape in worship, conversations around the table, and people learning to follow Jesus together. The story isn’t simply that a church began. It’s that people looking for community now have a place to help build it.
And there’s room for you to be part of what comes next.
“
“I see so many changed lives here, so many answered prayers, and yes, miracles in my church.”
Marty
“
“Four years ago I was a hopeless alcoholic who wanted death. Now I have a small engine business that the Lord is blessing, [I’m] about to be married, and have a life full of hope for a future.”
Glenda
Our Pastors
For Robert and Kathy, ministry extends beyond Sunday morning. Their work in pastoral care, youth ministry, and chaplaincy reflects a hands-on commitment to the people of this community.
Robert brings years of youth ministry and pastoral care to River Church. His background in counseling shapes the way he listens, teaches, and helps people through life’s difficult seasons.
Kathy grew up in the Radke family’s Westbank ministry. Her work as a pastor and Jefferson Parish chaplain reflects a lifelong commitment to bringing the hope of Jesus to people who need it.

Following Jesus means putting His love into action.
Here on the Westbank, we serve our neighbors and help people put their God-given gifts to work. Whether you’re packing supplies, lending a hand, or bringing encouragement, there’s a meaningful way for you to make a difference.
Our faith is rooted in Scripture. River Church affirms the Assemblies of God’s Statement of Fundamental Truths. These are some of the beliefs that shape our life together.
Scripture, Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible Word of God, our final authority for faith and life.
II Tim. 3:15-17; I Thess. 2:13; II Peter 1:21
We believe in one true God, eternally existing as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, perfectly united as one.
Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; Luke 3:22
Jesus is God’s eternal Son, born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose bodily from the dead.
Matt. 1:23; Heb. 7:26; I Cor. 15:3-4; Phil. 2:9-11
Every person is separated from God by sin. New life comes only through repentance and faith in Christ, a gift of grace, not works.
Rom. 5:12; John 3:3; Eph. 2:8
We baptize believers by immersion as a public declaration of new life, and share Communion in remembrance of Christ until He returns.
Acts 10:47-48; Rom. 6:4; I Cor. 11:26
Every believer can be filled with the Holy Spirit, empowered for a holy, Spirit-led life of service and love for Christ.
Acts 1:8; Acts 2:4; I Peter 1:15-16
The Church is the body of Christ, called to make disciples, worship God, and build up believers through called, Spirit-led leaders.
Eph. 1:22-23; Matt. 28:19-20; Eph. 4:11-13
Healing is part of the gospel, provided for in Christ’s atonement and offered freely to all who come to Him in faith.
Isa. 53:4-5; James 5:14-16
We eagerly await Jesus’ return, the resurrection of believers, and His eternal reign in the new heavens and new earth.
I Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 19:11-14; 20:11-15; 21:22
